After 163 events in the PGA, Tommy Fleetwood is on the very of his first ever win on tour. That’s now earned him cheers from other notable names in sports hoping to see him finish off the round with a win this afternoon in Atlanta.

Fleetwood currently leads the TOUR Championship by two strokes on the back nine at East Lake Gold Course. With that, names like LeBron James in the NBA and Caitlin Clark in the WNBA have tweeted out their support in hoping today is his day for his first career win.

“What a start so far by Fleetwood! Feels like (today) is the day,” posted James on Twitter.

“This has to be Fleetwood’s day,” Clark tweeted too.

Celebrities aren’t the only one cheering on Fleetwood either. He’s currently trending elsewhere across social media as fans look to see if he’ll secure career win number one as part of the tour.

Per the event’s current leaderboard, Fleetwood is in a two-stroke lead at -17 through 11. That’s ahead of three-way tie at -15 between Scottie Scheffler, Russell Henley, and Patrick Cantlay. He’s at a -1 this afternoon after shooting a 64 on Thursday and a 63 on Friday before shooting a 67 on Saturday.

Since joining the tour in 2018, Fleetwood, from England, has been close to several wins in his career to this point. He, in those 163 events, has made the cut 139 times, has 44 finishes in the top-ten, and six finishes apiece in second place and in third place. Still, with millions of dollars won as well as eight wins internationally, Fleetwod has yet to win outright on the PGA Tour.

Fleetwood has been playing over a decade and a half for this opportunity. Now, many stars are waiting to see if he can close out it this evening over the final third of the Tour Championship.
