Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is gearing up for her second WNBA season, and on Monday night, she welcomed a trio of new teammates as the Fever made three picks in the 2025 WNBA draft.
Throughout the offseason, Clark has been showing plenty of support for her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, and his team, the Butler Bulldogs. McCaffery joined Butler as an assistant coach after wrapping up his six-year playing career with the Iowa Hawkeyes, where he and Clark first met.
Clark has been spotted at several Butler games this past season in Indianapolis, cheering from the stands. And on Tuesday, the Bulldogs landed a key commitment from the transfer portal: former South Carolina State forward Drayton Jones.
McCaffery took to social media, using no words in his repost of Jones' announcement.
Jones, a 6-foot-11 Houston, Texas native, played two years at South Carolina State. He brings much-needed help in the frontcourt for a Butler team that struggled mightily this past season.
McCaffery, 26, is the son of former Iowa men's head coach Fran McCaffery, who was let go about a month ago but quickly found a new home at Pennsylvania.
The tide will soon change for the Butler man, and McCaffery and Clark's roles will be reversed. Clark is set to begin training camp with the Fever on Sunday, April 28, before opening the regular season on May 17. In their first game, they’ll take on Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky — and it's almost a guarantee that McCaffery will be in attendance for that one.
