2024 was a big year for Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark and arguably bigger for any woman in sports in years. But she's hoping that 2025 can be just as big and her boyfriend, Butler basketball assistant Connor McCaffery, is hopeful on that front too.
Taking to Instagram on New Year's Eve, Clark posted some photos highlighting how great of a year 2024 was for her. Her photo gallery included photos from her time at Iowa as a member of the Hawkeyes basketball team and a student, some photos of herself and McCaffery, vacation photos, time hanging out with friends, time on the golf course, time with her Fever teammates and, of course, her many accolades, among others.
"My fav moments from the best year. Time to make 2025 even better," Clark wrote.
In response to the WNBA megastar's recap of the year, McCaffery took to the comments with a single word to describe her:
“Queen,” McCaffery wrote, adding a heart-hand emoji to mirror the gesture Clark does when she sees her loved ones at games.
"Queen" is definitely a good word to describe what Clark became in 2024. She was the national college basketball player of the year, TIME magazine's athlete of the year, a WNBA All-Star, the WNBA Rookie of the Year and a member of the league's All-WNBA team, and won many, many other accolades on top of that.
The only accolade that eluded Clark in 2024 was an Olympic gold medal as she was not invited to join the Team USA basketball squad for the Summer Olympics in Paris. The women won all but the Final by double digits.
The 2025 season could be a stage for Clark to really emerge as a dominant force in the WNBA that can challenge some of the best for the MVP title, not just the Rookie of the Year title.
We can't wait to see what 2025 has in store for her.
