Look, I’ve seen plenty of rookie kickers come into the NFL thinking they’re the next Justin Tucker. Most of them end up shanking extra points and getting cut faster than you can say “doink.” But Jacksonville’s Cam Little? This kid might actually be different when it comes to fantasy football and real actual distance kicking when it comes to the regular season as well. Here’s his 2025 Fantasy Outlook for the upcoming fantasy season.

The 70-Yard Bomb That Doesn’t Count (But Should)

During the Jaguars’ preseason opener against Pittsburgh, Little did something that had NFL fans scrambling to check their eyesight. The 22-year-old Arkansas product launched a 70-yard field goal that sailed through the uprights like it was a casual 35-yarder. For context, that’s four yards longer than Justin Tucker’s official NFL record of 66 yards.

But here’s the kicker (pun intended): it doesn’t count because it happened in the preseason.

“It does suck,” Little told ESPN’s Michael DiRocco. “That means I am just going to go have to out there and make it again.”

Ah, the confidence of youth. I love it, even if it makes me feel ancient watching this kid treat 70-yard bombs like warm-up kicks.

Why Cam Little Could Be Fantasy Gold

Now, before you start rolling your eyes about fantasy kickers, hear me out. Little isn’t your typical rookie leg. The Jaguars drafted him in the sixth round specifically because they believe he can be their long-term answer at the position. And honestly? The early signs are promising.

Standing at 6’1″ and 172 pounds, Little has the kind of leg strength that makes defensive coordinators nervous when Jacksonville crosses midfield. His preseason performance suggests he’s not just another rookie who’ll struggle with consistency; this guy has legitimate range that extends well beyond most kickers in the league.

The New Era of NFL Kickers

Little represents something bigger happening in the NFL. We’re witnessing an evolution in the kicking game where 50-yard attempts are becoming routine, and 60-plus yarders aren’t the unicorns they once were. Little himself acknowledged this trend, predicting that he won’t be the only kicker to nail a 70-yarder in an actual game.

The kid’s got a point. With improved training methods, better understanding of biomechanics, and frankly, stronger legs coming out of college, we’re seeing kickers push boundaries that seemed impossible just a decade ago.

Fantasy Football Implications for Cam Little

From a fantasy perspective, Little presents an intriguing option, especially in deeper leagues or formats that reward longer field goals. The Jaguars offense, while improved, still has question marks that could lead to plenty of field goal opportunities rather than touchdowns.

According to Draft Sharks‘ projections, Little is currently ranked as the 12th kicker for the 2025 season with a projection of 153.8 fantasy points. That includes expectations of 43.6 extra points and a solid mix of field goal attempts across all ranges.

The Reality Check

Here’s where I pump the brakes a bit. Making a 70-yard field goal in a preseason game with perfect conditions is impressive, sure. But doing it when it matters, with playoff implications on the line and 70,000 screaming fans trying to distract you? That’s a different animal entirely.

Little will need to prove he can handle the pressure of meaningful kicks before we start crowning him the next great NFL kicker. The preseason is littered with players who looked unstoppable in August only to crumble when the lights got bright.

The Bottom Line on Cam Little

Despite my natural skepticism toward rookie kickers, there’s something different about Little. His leg strength is undeniable, his confidence is refreshing, and he’s landed in a situation where he could see plenty of opportunities. The Jaguars believe in him enough to make him their guy, and sometimes that institutional support makes all the difference.

Will he break Tucker’s official record this season? Maybe. Will he be a consistent fantasy contributor? The early signs point to yes. But let’s see how he handles his first game-winning attempt before we start planning his Hall of Fame speech.

One thing’s for certain: Little has already made his mark, even if it doesn’t officially count yet. And something tells me this won’t be the last time we’re talking about his leg strength this season.
