Cam Skattebo Drafted by New York Giants in the 2025 NFL Draft
- Members of the NY Giants run onto the field to start the game between the New York Giants and the Washington Commanders at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024.

Cam Skattebo is officially headed to the NFL after hearing his name called in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. The New York Giants grabbed the Arizona State running back with the 105th overall pick, bringing a tough, physical runner into their offense. Skattebo, who put up huge numbers in college and built a reputation for being hard to tackle, now gets his shot to prove he belongs on Sundays. Giants fans better get ready because this guy runs angry.

Skattebo’s Journey from Arizona State to the Big Leagues

Skattebo is not the tallest or flashiest back you are ever going to see, but man, he plays bigger than he looks. At 5-foot-9 and about 219 pounds, he bulldozed through defenses all year long at Arizona State. In 2024, he rushed for 1,711 yards and found the end zone 21 times. He was not just a one-trick pony either. He racked up 605 receiving yards and caught three touchdowns too, making him a serious problem for defenses trying to cover him out of the backfield.

One stat that really jumps out? Skattebo became the first FBS player since Christian McCaffrey back in 2015 to top 1,500 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a season. That is elite company. He earned First-Team All-American honors and was a First-Team All-Big 12 selection too. Even when Arizona State dropped the Peach Bowl, Skattebo still balled out and took home Offensive MVP honors. The guy just does not quit, no matter the scoreboard.

Why the Giants Pulled the Trigger

The Giants needed to beef up their backfield, and Skattebo checks a lot of boxes. They already have Devin Singletary and Tyrone Tracy Jr., but Skattebo brings a different kind of edge. He runs through contact like he is mad at the ground. He is a downhill runner who can also catch passes, giving the offense a true all-around threat.

Scouts loved his balance and toughness. Some compared him to a James Conner type of player, maybe not flashy but just relentless. Skattebo is the kind of guy you hand the ball to when you need three yards and he somehow gets you six. He will not dance around or try to get cute. He gets what is there and usually a little bit more.

Plus, his versatility means he will not have to come off the field much. If the Giants want to throw a screen pass, he is right there. If they want to pound the ball in short yardage, he is right there too. That makes him a perfect fit for what New York seems to be building.

What Giants Fans Can Expect

Skattebo is not a guy who cares about the spotlight. He just plays hard and lets his game do the talking. New York fans are going to love that about him. He is blue-collar, tough as nails, and the kind of guy you can root for without thinking twice.

It might take a little time for him to carve out a huge role, but if he keeps doing what he did at Arizona State, it is going to be pretty hard to keep him off the field. The Giants got themselves a steal at 105, no doubt about it. Skattebo is coming to work, and he is bringing that old-school toughness the Giants have always been known for. Keep an eye on him because he might end up being one of the real breakout names from this draft class.
