Cardinals Conclude Prelims on Day 3 of Ohio State Fall Invitational

The University of Louisville swimming team wrapped up prelims on Day 3 of the Ohio State Fall Invitational at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The Cardinals faced off against other strong swimming and diving teams including the nationally ranked Buckeyes, Indiana, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Ohio University, Cal, and Kenyon.

The meet spanned three days with the action kicking off at 9:30am. Prelims were conducted in the morning in meters, with finals taking place at 5:30 ET in yards.

In the women’s 200M back, Louisville’s Ally Boynton secured the top spot for the Cardinals with a tenth-place finish, while Jordan Durocher finished just behind her in eleventh place with a time of 2:18.56. Rye Ulett came in 15th with a time of 2:19.71.

The men’s 200M back saw Notre Dame’s Tommy Janton taking the lead with a time of 2:00.06, followed by Louisville’s Jackson Millard in third place with a time of 2:02.03. Drew Collins finished with a time of 2:10.38, while Ryan Hogan completed the event with a time of 2:10.38.

OSU’s Amy Fulmer clinched the win in the women’s 100M freestyle with a time of 55.14. UofL’s Gabi Albiero came in second with a time of 55.41, closely followed by Lucy Mehraban in third place with a time of 55.43. Christiana Regenauer finished in sixth place with a time of 55.93, Julia Dennis in eighth place with a time of 56.35, and Karoline Barrett in ninth place with a time of 56.86. Bianca Costea followed in 11th place with a time of 56.99, Tristen Ulett with a time of 57.26, and Ella Welch with a time of 58.18.

Notre Dame’s Chris Guiliano dominated the men’s 100M freestyle with the fastest time of 47.98. UofL’s Murilo Sartori finished in fifth place with a time of 50.01, followed by Matias Santiso in sixth place with a time of 50.41. Denis Loktev finished in seventh place with a time of 50.43, Yassin Hossam in eighth place with a time of 50.47, and Dalton Lowe rounding out the top ten with a time of 50.48.

In the women’s 200M breaststroke, IU’s Brearna Crawford took the lead with a time of 2:29.09, with Louisville’s Kim Herkle finishing in second place with a time of 2:30.02. Fernanda Celidonio finished in 17th place with a time of 2:41.96, while Adry Kasemets completed the event with a time of 2:42.42. On the men’s side, Max Reich secured the fastest time in the 200M breast with a time of 2:12.53. Denis Petrashov finished as the top Cardinal in fifth place, followed by Aidan Kreiley in 17th place with a time of 2:20.20, just ahead of Luke Shourds with a time of 2:20.64. Freshman Jordan Kelly finished with a time of 2:24.96.

In the women’s 200M butterfly, IU’s Katie Forrester finished first with a time of 2:13.12. Louisville’s Abby Hay was the highest finishing Cardinal in fifth place with a time of 2:17.14. Madie Hall finished in 13th place with a time of 2:21.76, and Summer Cardwell completed the event with a time of 2:22.41. In the men’s 200M fly, IU’s Drew Reiter posted the fastest time of 2:01.49, with Tommy Bried finishing in second place with a time of 2:02.23. UofL’s Gustavo Saldo secured fourth place with a time of 2:02.34, followed by Aidan Paro with a time of 2:05.21, Mateo Miceli with a time of 2:05.42, and Denis Loktev finishing in 13th place with a time of 2:05.74.

The action will continue on Saturday, November 18, with events such as the 1650 Free, 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke, 200 Butterfly, 400 Free Relay, and Platform Dive.
