Cardinals Finish Fall Season in Style at Rivanna Romp

LOUISVILLE ROWING TEAM WRAPS UP FALL SCHEDULE AT RIVANNA ROMP

EARLYSVILLE, Va. – The University of Louisville rowing team concluded its fall season on Sunday at the Rivanna Romp. The team competed against boats from Duke, Minnesota, Navy, North Carolina, and Virginia on the Rivanna Reservoir’s 4,000-meter course.

The Cardinals’ Varsity 8 boat finished in eighth place with a time of 13:44.9, while the 2V8 boat crossed the finish line at 15:01.7.

In their second race of the fall, the Novice 8 boat claimed fifth place with a time of 15:33.7.

“The Novice 8 put together the race they were working towards, and all the coxswains did what they could with some challenging situations,” said UofL head coach Derek Copeland.

Louisville’s 2V4 boat secured 15th place with a time of 15:29.5, and the Varsity 4 boat finished 18th at 15:37.4. The 3V4 and 4V4 boats recorded times of 16:37.5 and 16:50.7, respectively.

“We are disappointed with some of our performances today,” said Copeland. “Although we saw some pockets of growth, it seemed like we lacked the killer instinct we really needed to speed up as a program. The bottom line is that we need to get faster through the winter, and I look forward to seeing them step up over the next 12 weeks.”
