Louisville, KY – The University of Louisville cross country teams are gearing up for the NCAA Southeast Regionals set to take place on Friday, Nov. 10 in Spartanburg, S.C. at Milliken Research Park. This is a crucial postseason event as athletes have the opportunity to qualify for the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Charlottesville, Va. on Nov. 18.

The women’s 6K race will kick off the morning at 11:00 a.m. ET, followed by the men’s 10K race at 12:00 p.m. ET. Both teams will be looking to showcase their abilities in these challenging distances.

The regional meet is hosted by the University of South Carolina Upstate and is one of nine events happening this weekend. The top two teams in each regional, along with the first four individual finishers not on qualifying teams, will automatically secure a spot in the national meet. After all nine regional meets, the NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee will select 13 at-large teams and two at-large individuals to complete the field in Charlottesville.

The Southeast Regional consists of Division I cross country programs from Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. This year’s field includes three nationally-ranked women’s teams and five nationally-ranked men’s squads. Notable teams are the NC State women and North Carolina men, who recently clinched the ACC team championships.

Looking back at last season’s regional meet, the Louisville men placed 13th, while the women placed 22nd. They will be aiming to improve on those performances and secure a higher placement this year.
