Cardinals Read: Women’s Soccer Secures Eight Talented Recruits for the 2024 Class

The University of Louisville women’s soccer team is gearing up for the 2024 season with the addition of eight talented players to their roster. Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes and her staff announced the new recruits, who will bring depth and skill to the team.

Leading the pack is Lauryn Contini, a midfielder hailing from New Philadelphia, Ohio. Contini comes highly regarded, having been voted the no. 2 player on Ohio’s Best Top-23 high school girls soccer players for the 2023 season. Coach Ferguson-Dayes expects Contini to be an immediate attacking presence, praising her goal-scoring ability and offensive instincts.

Another key addition to the Cardinals is Grace Maddox, a defender from Statham, Georgia. Maddox holds the school record for goals as a freshman and has been a standout player for her club team, GSA. Coach Ferguson-Dayes describes Maddox as an excellent athlete who can play multiple positions, with strong defensive skills and the ability to contribute offensively.

Brooklyn Lee, a defender from Tacoma, Washington, brings a cerebral and composed presence to the team. She led her high school team to the PCL championship and has been recognized as one of the top players in her region. Coach Ferguson-Dayes praises Lee’s intelligence and natural feel for the game, predicting that she will continue to develop and make an impact on the team.

Forward/midfielder Fina Davy, from Delaware, Ohio, impressed with her performances at Olentangy Berlin high school and Ohio Premier club. Davy holds several records at her high school and has been a standout player for her club team. Coach Ferguson-Dayes expects her to be instrumental in the team’s success, highlighting her goal-scoring ability and versatility on the field.

Piper Davidson, a forward/midfielder from Wenatchee, Washington, brings speed and dribbling ability to the Cardinals. She has been an All-Conference first team member and has shattered offensive records at her high school. Coach Ferguson-Dayes describes Davidson as a true wide player who will be difficult for defenders to contain.

Avery Oergel, a defender from Fulton, Maryland, has displayed fearlessness and tenacity on the field. She has been recognized as an ECNL First Team All-Conference selection and is a member of the US National Team Pool. Coach Ferguson-Dayes praises Oergel’s defensive abilities and her eagerness to contribute to the team’s attack.

Amelia Swinarski, a midfielder from Madison, Ohio, brings technical skill and an intuitive feel for the game. Swinarski has been named Conference Player of the Year and has been a consistent leader for her high school and club teams. Coach Ferguson-Dayes is excited to add Swinarski to the team, noting her passing ability and lethal free-kick skills.

AG Gibson, a midfielder from Louisville, Kentucky, is a hometown product who has dreamed of being a Cardinal. She has been a standout player at Assumption High School, earning All-State honors and leading her team to a regional championship. Coach Ferguson-Dayes praises Gibson’s competitive and upbeat nature, describing her as a positive presence on the field.

With these additions, the University of Louisville women’s soccer team is looking to make a strong impact in the 2024 season.
