What can you do in 12 seconds? Can you walk out the door from your work to the car? Or perhaps feed the cat? For legendary quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, they can put together scoring drives in that time. For Carlos Ulberg , it took 12 seconds to knock out Alonzo Menifield (15-4-1).

Menifield came out swinging, trying to take down the New Zealand MMA fighter. All it took for Ulberg was to swiftly move out of the way and pummel the Dallas native into oblivion. Suddenly, Menifield’s back was on the cage, leaving Ulberg to punch his way to victory.

The fight was over before a spectator could even get to the bathroom. “Black Jag” (11-1) shocked the world, showcasing his tenacity in less than a minute’s quarter.

Carlos Ulberg Is A Threat

That brings up an interesting point about Carlos Ulberg as a fighter. “Black Jag” isn’t afraid to throw punches and kicks at his opponents, averaging 7.29 significant strikes per minute. But with well-timed movements and in-ring intelligence, he proves he can become a formidable light heavyweight fighter.

On top of that, Ulberg’s first-round knockout of Alonzo Menifield was his fifth in the UFC. Having five first-round knockouts in the first eight fights of your UFC career is impressive. However, it was when he unleashed his fury that makes the New Zealand light heavyweight special.

During that Menifield fight, Ulberg didn’t throw the first punch or initiate offense. Instead, he felt out the Dallas native before he came after Ulberg. Once “Black Jag” found an opening, he pounced and earned an incredible victory.

What’s Carlos Ulberg’s Ceiling?

With Carlos Ulberg disposing of the light heavyweight competition, fans are wondering where he could land in the light heavyweight division. The 33-year-old is still in the prime of his fighting career, so there’s reason to believe he can climb up the ranks.

But the one issue is the light heavyweight division has Alex Pereira as its top dog. “Poatan” has also demolished opponents with patient, timely fighting, making him one of the UFC’s top fighters. Pereira and Ulberg have similar styles, with Ulberg leaning more toward ruthless aggression.

Still, seeing “Black Jag” destroy yet another opponent in the first round should have fans talking about his trajectory. He’s got seven KOs in his MMA career and has the potential to stockpile more. As a result, even more fans will notice the New Zealand native’s power, giving him a boost in the rankings.
