Carson Hocevar calls out tow truck driver at Daytona after blowing up in Stage 2

A blown engine is going to be the end of the night for Carson Hocevar in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona. The Coke Zero Sugar 400 has had a few surprises and mishaps so far, and we have a lot of laps to go.

Drivers are not known for being calm behind the wheel. After wrecking out or having an engine failure in a race, drivers can say things they don’t mean or wouldn’t otherwise say. Hocevar might have had one of those moments.

“They have flashlights showing him where to go,” Hocevar said while waiting for his tow truck, via Dalton Hopkins of Frontstretch. “This stupid f***.”

This is not where Carson Hocevar wanted to be at this point in the race. Tough night.

This was Carson Hocevar’s last chance to make a run for the NASCAR Playoffs. He would have had to have won his first career race to do it. But the opportunity was there. Now, that opportunity is gone, along with the fluid from Hocevar’s engine.

Daytona doesn’t show mercy to anyone. Wrecks, mechanical issues, pit road mistakes – all of that can happen and more. When it does happen, it usually happens quickly and with a moment’s notice.

Carson Hocevar won’t go playoff racing

Despite his best efforts this season and a few close calls, Carson Hocevar is not going to go playoff racing. The Spire Motorsports driver is only in his second season in the Cup Series. He’s still coming into his own.

Throughout this season, Hocevar has shown that his talent and skills are where they need to be. Now, Spire has to get more consistent and quicker on a weekly basis, and Hocevar has to hone his skills and aggressive speed in order to maximize his days.

When your engine blows, you can’t do much about it. So, Hocevar shouldn’t hang his head about this ordeal. His team did its best to give him a chance to win a race this season in the regular season, but it didn’t work out. That can be said for the majority of the Cup Series every single year.

Carson Hocevar is out of the race early. Who will take the final spot in the NASCAR Playoffs?
