Celtic are close to finalising a £6m deal for Bobby Clark, the former Liverpool prospect currently playing for RB Salzburg.
The Scottish champions have been following Clark since last summer and are now moving forward with an offer, looking to bring him in as one of their early January additions. Back in August, the club was first linked to him.
After a disappointing summer transfer window that drew plenty of criticism, this move could be seen as part of an effort to address those shortcomings.
The young midfielder has been on loan at Derby County, where he has played regularly under John Eustace this season.
Clark has also shown interest in a move back to the UK since Celtic were first mentioned as potential suitors.
According to reports from The Times, Celtic have agreed on a fee of £6m for Clark, who is eager to make the move back home.
Back in August 2021, Newcastle sold the then-teenager to Liverpool for a reported £1.5m. At just 17, Clark made his senior debut for Liverpool and went on to make 14 appearances before leaving the club.
He was just 19 when he left Anfield, having made just under a dozen first-team appearances. A £10m move took him to RB Salzburg, where he signed a five-year contract in January.
Bobby is very composed on the ball and rarely looks flustered. He also has good feet for a central midfielder which makes it easy for him to glide around opposition players.
It seems Clark’s next destination will be Glasgow and we’ll soon see what impact he can make at Parkhead.
