Former Mizzou standout Phil Pressey was named head coach of the Boston Celtics’ G-League affiliate after spending the last two seasons as an assistant for the Celtics.
Pressey spent three seasons with Missouri including the teams transition from the Big 12 to the SEC in 2012. The 5-11 guard had a career average at Mizzou of 9.7 points, 5.6 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals a game. Following his stint at Mizzou, Pressey signed with the Boston Celtics as an undrafted free agent. He bounced around the league and then played a few seasons overseas.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity and I will give my all to this team. The community of Portland is amazing, and I remember my time as a player was unforgettable at the Expo. My goal is to instill winning habits into every player who suits up for the Maine Celtics,” Pressey said in a news release.
In 2022, Phil Pressey became a graduate assistant under Dennis Gates for Mizzou. He spent one season with the Tigers before leaving for the NBA once again. Back to the Celtics Pressey went.
