Another offseason domino has fallen for the Chicago Red Stars as the club named Richard Feuz general manager on Monday.
Feuz joins the Red Stars after serving in various capacities for Servette Football Club in Geneva, Switzerland, and has been the club’s CEO since 2020.
As general manager, Feuz will “lead all soccer operations of the club including managing the coaching, performance, training and administration staff as well as the construction of the team roster through player acquisitions, trades or releases,” per the club's announcement.
“Richard has a proven record in building championship-level organizations, having led the Servette Football Club through years of success on and off the pitch,” said Red Stars executive chairperson Laura Ricketts in the release. “His experience will be invaluable as we begin this new chapter for the Chicago Red Stars.”
Feuz began as the president and sporting director of Servette’s women’s team in 2017, getting his side into the UEFA Women’s Champions League for three straight years from 2020 to 2022. Once Feuz began as CEO, Servette saw growth in all levels of the club both on and off the pitch. Frankly, he appears to have helped turn Servette into a club with the modern amenities needed in a global soccer space.
“I am very excited to join the Chicago Red Stars,” said Feuz in the release. “I’d like to thank Laura for trusting me to lead the Red Stars’ soccer operation. I can’t wait to join the team this preseason and get to work on re-establishing the team as a championship competitor in the league.”
Feuz begins his duties as general manager immediately and will travel to IMG Academy in Florida to join the Red Stars preseason camp as they prepare for their season opener on March 16.
