The Chicago Sky battled the Las Vegas Aces wire to wire on Monday night but ultimately fell short, dropping a 79-74 contest to fall to 9-28 with just seven games left in the regular season.
The Aces, meanwhile, continued their scorching run as the WNBA’s hottest team, extending their winning streak to 11 games and clinching a playoff berth with the victory. Four players scored in double figures for Las Vegas, led by Jackie Young’s 22 points and seven assists.
Chicago’s offense was carried by Ariel Atkins, who poured in a game-high 30 points, Kamilla Cardoso, who posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Angel Reese, who added 10 points, 17 rebounds, and four assists for yet another double-double.
After the game, Sky head coach Tyler Marsh praised Reese’s dominance on the glass, declaring that she’s already on her way to becoming one of the greatest rebounders in WNBA history.
"[Angel] Reese is one of and on her way to being the greatest rebounder in basketball history," Marsh said.

Angel Reese, now in her second season with the Chicago Sky after being drafted No. 7 overall out of LSU, has continued to exceed expectations despite the team’s struggles.
A two-time All-Star, Reese missed time from July 29 to Aug. 19 with a lingering back injury but returned without missing a step, recording double-doubles in three of her first four games back.
Entering Monday night, she was averaging 14.5 points, 12.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 46.4% from the field and 77.8% at the free-throw line.
Though the Sky have already been eliminated from postseason contention, they’ll return to action Thursday on the road against the Phoenix Mercury.
