The Chicago Stars FC have locked up another one of their own for the foreseeable future.

Chicago announced that they have re-signed backup goalkeeper Mackenzie Wood to a new contract that will run through the 2027 NWSL season.

Wood, who turns 25 on July 4, has only seen limited action in the NWSL since her professional career began in 2023 after a standout collegiate career at Northwestern and Notre Dame. The Granger, Indiana native initially joined Chicago as a non-rostered invitee during the 2023 preseason and had a few cameos with the club as an injury replacement player before being permanently signed by Chicago and subsequently loaned to Stade de Reims Féminines in France for the remainder of 2023.

Wood made her NWSL debut early in 2024 and subsequently started the two matches after her debut while also featuring twice in the 2024 NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup.

When Wood returns from injury, she will have to compete with Halle Mackiewicz for the backup goalkeeper spot for the remainder of 2025.
