Darian Kinnard qualifies as a journeyman at this stage in his NFL career. Fortunately, for his sake, the teams that keep trading for him tend to keep him playing for real hardware.

Kinnard's latest home is going to be with the Green Bay Packers. The Packers traded a future sixth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in a preseason deal intended to bolster Green Bay's offensive line as they construct their roster for Week 1.

The Packers are Darian Kinnard's third team since being drafted in 2022.

Kansas City Chiefs fans will recognize Kinnard's name as one of the rare "misses" in the team's famed 2022 NFL Draft class. That same class yielded first-round choices like cornerback Trent McDuffie and defensive end George Karlaftis, along with several other contributors like linebacker Leo Chenal, running back Isiah Pacheco, and cornerback Jaylen Watson.

The Chiefs chose Kinnard in the fifth round in 2022 as a physical offensive lineman out of Kentucky who would provide the franchise with a mauling presence in the run game. At 6'5", 320 lbs., Kinnard joined the Chiefs with three years of starting experience outside with pro projections sliding him inside.

Over two seasons in Kansas City, however, Kinnard only ever appeared in one regular season game and was relegated to the practice squad for his entire sophomore season. That did allow him to earn two championship rings in the process, but it wasn't any surprise that he was allowed to leave in 2024.

It's here that Kinnard's journey takes a rather fortunate turn since the Eagles would keep him around long enough to win another title, a dominating win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Kinnard only started a single game for Philly, a season-ending game in which the team rested its starters, but it did give him some reps at guard.

The Packers are now hoping Kinnard's presence brings the same level of success to the franchise that he's had the last three seasons—in addition to actually helping to firm up the offensive front.
