Chiefs host 37 undrafted free agents for tryouts during 2024 rookie minicamp

The Kansas City Chiefs have officially revealed their roster for this weekend's rookie minicamp. 

While this weekend will serve as the first opportunity for drafted players and undrafted free agent signings to get some work in, several players are fighting for a spot on the 90-man roster. The Chiefs are set to host over three dozen players on a tryout basis at a variety of different positions on the offense, defense, and special teams. Any positive impression they can make puts them one step closer to the 90-man offseason roster in Kansas City. 

Below you'll find a list of all the players invited for tryouts, organized by position:

Quarterback: 2

  • North Carolina State QB Brennan Armstrong: 19
  • Ole Miss QB Spencer Sanders: 17

Sanders (who played at Ole Miss in 2023) is Oklahoma State's career rushing yards leader by a quarterback. Armstrong previously played at Virginia, where he has career records for passing yards and TDs. 

Running back: 3

  • Villanova RB TD Ayo-Durojaiye: 31
  • Kansas RB Dylan McDuffie: 32
  • Penn State RB Treyson Potts: 27

Ayo-Durojaiye is one to watch. He has 310 career carries for 1,569 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Wide receiver: 7

  • East Carolina WR Jarett Garner: 2
  • Akron WR Daniel George: 7 
  • Villanova WR Jaaron Hayek: 11
  • North Texas WR Kaylon Horton: 13
  • North Dakota State WR Zach McCarron-Mathis: 23
  • Incarnate Word WR Brandon Porter: 20
  • Indiana State WR Harry Van Dyne: 22

Quite the difference in types and styles here. Horton is listed at 5-9 and 173 pounds, while McCarron-Mathisd is 6-foot-7 and 203 pounds. 

Tight end: 1

  • Mississippi State TE Geor'quarius Spivey: 44

Spivey didn't ever play with the Bulldogs in 2023 because the NCAA denied his graduate transfer waiver. He previously played for the TCU Horned Frogs.

Offensive lineman: 1

  • Arkansas State OL Jalen Cunningham: 73

Cunningham is a big boy. He's listed at 6-foot-5 and 330 pounds. 

Linebacker: 6

  • Buffalo LB Joe Andreessen: 41
  • Northwestern LB Bryce Gallagher: 64
  • TCU LB Jamoi Hodge: 45
  • Ohio LB Bryce Houston: 52
  • Florida A&M LB Isaiah Major: 65
  • Delaware LB Jackson Taylor: 59

Watch out for Taylor, who played at Brett Veach and Matt Nagy's alma mater. 

Defensive backs: 7

  • Abilene Christian CB Patrick Jolly: 1
  • Washington State DB Sam Lockett: 11
  • Central Florida DB Corey Patterson: 5
  • Bentley CB Matt Severance: 10
  • Georgia Tech CB Myles Sims: 9
  • Ithaca DB Derek Slywka: 12
  • SDSU CB Noah Tumblin: 4

Slywka is an insane athlete. He posted a 9.45 RAS score during his pro day workout.

Defensive line: 8

  • Oregon State DE Andrew Chatfield: 70
  • Townsend DE Jesus Gibbs: 71
  • Wyoming DL Cole Godbout: 62
  • Montana DL Alex Gubner: 75
  • Virginia Tech DL Mario Kendricks: 61
  • East Stroudsburg DE Deshawn McCarthy: 73
  • Kansas DL Devin Phillips: 74
  • South Carolina DE Jordan Strachan: 60

Gubner is one to watch here as the 2023 Big Sky Defensive player of the Year.

Specialists: 2

  • Georgia LS William Mote: 40
  • North Texas K Noah Rauschenberg: 14

Rauschenberg earned AAC Specialist of the Year honors in 2023.
