Chiefs NFL Draft: Jordan Burch, Aireontae Ersery, and six more prospects poised to impress at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine

The Kansas City Chiefs are in Indianapolis, Indiana, for the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium this week. There, the team will observe and interview prospects ahead of the 2025 NFL draft in April.

While most will emphasize the formal and informal meetings, good drills and on-field performance at the combine can make or break a prospect's draft stock. Last season, the Chiefs traded up in the first round to select WR Xavier Worthy in the 2024 NFL draft following a record-setting performance at the combine. Could they again target a standout performer at the NFL combine in the first round or Day 2 in the draft?

Below, you'll find eight prospects expected to impress as drills and on-field workouts begin later this week.

Oregon DT Jordan Burch

At 6-foot-5 and 295 pounds, Burch will turn heads at the combine with his athletic ability. Not only does he possess grown-man strength, but he's one of the most explosive defensive players in this draft class. He boasts a 35-inch vertical jump, and Burch has some serious wheels. Given his size, he could be one of the fastest defensive linemen ever to show at the NFL Scouting Combine. Just check him out on this fake punt:

Tennesse EDGE James Pearce, Jr.

Pearce's biggest hurdle will probably be convincing teams of his off-field character rather than anything he can do between the hash marks. That said, a strong performance in Indy (vertical, broad jump, 10-yard split numbers) probably won't hurt his chances of cementing himself as a first-round draft pick. The 6-foot-5 and 243-pound edge rusher finished his career with the Vols with 30 tackles for loss, 19 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one interception.

Minnesota LT Aireontae Ersery

Ersery is a big man at 6-foot-6 and 330 pounds, but he's also an explosive athlete for his size. While fans will probably want to watch him on the bench press, he also can move with the best of them. His 10-yard split reportedly set a school record at Minnesota at 1.52 seconds, which is a number that would have well exceeded the best 10-yard split (1.69s) by an offensive tackle at the NFL Scouting Combine just last year.

Arkansas EDGE Landon Jackson

If you created a prototypical Steve Spagnuolo edge rusher in a laboratory, you'd probably end up with something close to Landon Jackson. At nearly 6-foot-6 and 273 pounds, Jackson recorded a 10-2 broad jump and a 34-inch vertical ahead of the 2024 college football season. That type of explosion appears in his tape, even recently in the Senior Bowl on his strip sack of Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart. I'd expect him to come away as a big winner in Indy.

Penn State RB Nick Singleton

Singleton's NFL Combine performance could resemble that of a former Penn State running back who just won Offensive Player of the Year and a Super Bowl title in 2024. He could even exceed him on the track, as he's expected to post 40-yard dash times below 4.4 seconds. He could challenge the top short shuttle and three-cone times among running backs in attendance. Given that Singleton holds the Penn State squat record, I wouldn't be shocked to see him impress on the bench as well.

Nebraska CB Tommi Hill

Listed at 6-foot, 205 pounds, Hill dealt with a foot injury throughout the 2024 college football season, but he managed to battle through said injury to appear in over a half dozen games. In 2023, he had a career-high 26 tackles, nine passes defended, and four interceptions. He's a former track athlete who ran sprints and relays. Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule told The Athletic's Bruce Feldman for his 2024 freaks list that Hill is a "42-inch vertical, 4.3 guy." If his foot injury allows him to participate, that type of performance would cement Hill as one of the top NFL combine performers regardless of position in 2025.

Virginia Tech RB Bhaysul Tuten

Tuten recently has seen some attention after appearing as a first-round draft pick in a CBS Sports mock draft. I don't think that's in the cards for him, but he will undoubtedly help himself at the NFL Scouting Combine. Tuten isn't just a forced missed tackle machine who broke Virginia Tech's single-game rushing record; he has legitimate track speed. He's recorded a low 4.3s 40-yard dash in the past and is aiming for a high 4.2s 40-yard dash at the combine.

Auburn LB Eugene Asante

An underrated prospect in this draft class with NFL bloodlines, Asante has a chance to open some eyes at the NFL combine. He's proven to be a tackling machine for the Tigers, with 195 career tackles in three seasons at Auburn. He'll have a chance to be one of the fastest linebackers in attendance, with a mid-4.4 40-yard dash time expected. He should also excel in pro agility testing, with the potential to post some top scores.
