Chiefs Offense Set To 'Open Up' With Patrick Mahomes' Weapons

The Kansas City Chiefs' offense over the past couple of seasons hasn't had an explosive element to it, with Andy Reid's unit often plodding away instead of the firework shows we became accustomed to with Patrick Mahomes.

But that might change in 2025.

With Rashee Rice, Marquise Brown, Xavier Worthy, Travis Kelce, Tyquan Thornton, and Juju Smith-Schuster, that group can cause some serious trouble, and we saw that in the preseason finale against the Chicago Bears, with Mahomes and Thornton connecting for a 58-yard pass.

And Worthy thinks this offense, with the deep ball element back, could be quite something.

"I feel like it could open a lot of things up," Worthy said. "We got Trav [Kelce] running all the underneath routes, whatever he needs to run. We got guys like me, Hollywood [Brown], Rashee [Rice], Tyquan [Thornton] to take the top off. We got the intermediate game. You have to play the whole field with all of us on the field."

If, and that's a big if, the Chiefs receiver room can stay healthy, then it has the potential to be rather lethal.

Granted, it was against the Bears in a preseason game, so we can't get too excited, but with the starters hitting the field from the outset, early in the second quarter, the Chiefs were up 17-0 with two touchdown drives in two of their first three, with the other being a field goal from an 11-play, 40-yard drive.

So, there is plenty to like about the Chiefs.

But your best ability is availability, and we wait to see if the Chiefs can keep their weapons out of the treatment room in 2025.

If they can, the NFL better look out.
