Last offseason, Kansas City Chiefs rookie receiver Xavier Worthy was still finding his feet in the NFL world, but now, he's in a much better place ahead of Year 2.
Worthy and his blistering speed were a slow burn to start the season, but he slowly developed into one of Patrick Mahomes' most trusted weapons, which was capped off with a 157-yard, two-touchdown game in the Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
But Worthy played most of the season without Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown, with both set to be on the field with him in 2025, and he can't wait for the regular season to begin.
"We got a really new group, I'm excited just to get the season going," Worthy said. "I mean, it's another season, year two, big year for me."
With most of Kansas City's starters getting work in the 29-27 loss to the Chicago Bears in the preseason finale, Worthy, Rice, Juju Smith-Schuster, and Tyquan Thornton (58-yard reception) all got in much-needed game-like reps.
The offense seemed to find its rhythm early and got things rolling, something that might have been a little preview for the year ahead.
We know of Xavier's speed and home-run threat, but now he understands the playbook and how things "flow," in his words, so while Worthy and Mahomes developed quite the connection last season, expect that to continue in 2025.
The Chiefs have made it known that they desire to get Mahomes' deep ball back as a key part of the offense. We saw it on display against the Bears, and you can bet that Worthy and this receiver room might just be a lot better than people think this season.
