Cincinnati has added an intriguing new piece to its 2026 class, flipping a commitment and landing three-star edge rusher Evan Weinberg. The Springboro, Ohio, standout originally pledged to Central Michigan but changed course and made his decision official with the Bearcats this week.
I want to thank my family, my coaches, and everyone who has believed in me throughout this process.

After talking it over with my family I am excited to say that I am committing to The University of Cincinnati! #gobearcats @CortBraswell @Coach_Cass @CoachJBrandon @CoachSattUC… pic.twitter.com/Zk0TvSFoyw
Weinberg checks in at 6‑3 and 230 pounds, and brings an aggressive, twitchy edge skill set that should appeal to Cincinnati’s defensive staff. In his current high school season, he’s racked up production in tackles for loss, pressure, and sacks, earning him nine total scholarship offers before the flip.
For Cincinnati, this is a solid add. The Bearcats now have added depth and developmental upside on the edge, which is a premium spot in modern defensive formats. Weinberg won’t be expected to start Day 1, but his physical traits and momentum coming off the recruitment flip give him a legitimate shot to contribute in rotational roles before long.
This commit also aligns with the Bearcats’ recent trajectory of building depth across their roster. As Cincinnati strengthens its presence in the Big 12, bolstering the defensive line and edge positions becomes increasingly critical. A player like Weinberg could be an important chess piece in that defense over the next few seasons.
In short, Evan Weinberg’s arrival gives Cincinnati three things: upside, versatility, and a message to rivals that UC isn’t just seeking volume, they’re seeking quality flips. The edge room may tighten, but the Bearcats now have one more arrow in their quiver.
