Cleveland Browns Quarterback Joe Flacco had a strong performance at home against the Los Angeles Rams. In his first preseason action of the season, he went 9-of-10 for 71 yards and a passing touchdown. Cleveland’s QB room has been a heavily covered unit this offseason. He earned the No. 1 QB spot and lived up to the billing this afternoon. How will he play once the games actually count in the standings?
It is not expected to be a fruitful season for the Cleveland Browns. The biggest story for the team this season is how many games Flacco will be the team’s starter. The odds are not in his favor at this point in his career. Breathing down his neck this season will be rookie Quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel. Both rookies showed flashes during the postseason, but understandably, could not beat out the wily veteran for the starting job to begin the season.
The veteran quarterback will begin the season with arguably the worst skill position players in the league. Tight End David Njoku and Wide Receiver Jerry Jeudy are the team’s marquee offensive pieces. Whomever is the team’s quarterback in 2025 must protect the football and allow the team’s defense to carry the load.
The Cleveland Browns will kick off the regular season on September 7 at home against the Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati is a habitually slow starter. Cleveland will look to take advantage of that and begin the regular season with a shocking victory.
