Comedian Shane Gillis Tells Funny West Virginia Recruiting Story

There's always a West Virginia connection somehow, right? Well rising star in the comedy world, Shane Gillis, recently appeared on the Soder Podcast and talked about his football playing career and the process of being recruited. 

Gillis briefly mentioned how one trip to West Virginia humbled him, making him realize his dreams of being a college football player on the biggest stage was a little too out of reach.

"I did a Scout.com combine at West Virginia and that was kind of the end of my D-I hopes. I ran like a six-second forty (yard dash). They were like, 'Oh my God' and just like anybody in high school our forty times were hand-timed by our coach, so I went into it going like I run like a 5.1. I'm fast. And I think the guy timing it was a player for West Virginia, a d-back, and he was like, 'damn' and I heard him say it. I was like no way, that's impossibly slow. We had to do a long jump and I think I did three feet. I did good in the one on ones blocking. I felt good about that."
