Como President Mirwan Suwarso insists Tottenham didn’t send formal offers for Nico Paz, knowing that Real Madrid can match any proposal and reveals Alvaro Morata cut his salary to join the club.

Como President Suwarso denies that Tottenham sent an offer for Argentine talent Nico Paz.

The 20-year-old is formally a Como player, but Real Madrid have an option to re-sign him in 2026 and 2027 and can match any formal bid for the promising attacking midfielder.

Suwarso, however, denied that Como had received a formal offer from Tottenham for the product of the Real Madrid academy.

Como President reveals truth about Nico Paz Tottenham links

“It’s not true that we rejected a proposal,” the Como President told Corriere della Sera via Calciomercato.com.

“Nobody makes an offer knowing that we must forward it to Real Madrid, who can match it. At some point, we feared Nico Paz could return to Real Madrid. He was raised in the Real Madrid Academy and dreams of playing at the Bernabeu one day.”

Como started the new season with a 2-0 win over Lazio, inspired by Paz’s goal and assist. Inter had approached their coach, Cesc Fabregas, in June, but the Azzurri refused to release the Spaniard.

“We did nothing out of the ordinary to keep him,” said Suwarso.

Morata cut his salary to join Como

“He never expressed the desire to leave. Inter approached Fabregas in a professional way; they asked for permission to negotiate, but we declined.”

Como are among the highest spenders in Serie A this summer, and Alvaro Morata is indeed one of their most important purchases.

“Alvaro enjoys Fabregas’ playing style. He halved his salary to come here,” said the Como President.

“I can ensure that qualification for Europe [this season] is not part of the business plan. Certainly, we can’t chase the sporting result at all costs, risking going bankrupt. Going to Europe would indeed boost incomes, but at the same time, we’d need to create a deeper team and respect the Financial Fair Play parameters.”
