Conor McGregor is backing Mike Tyson to get the better of Floyd Mayweather in their proposed exhibition fight.

The UFC legend spent some time with Tyson in Dublin recently and believes the boxing great is not showing any signs of slowing down. In fact, McGregor says Tyson looks even sharper than he did seven years ago, back when he last visited Ireland.

The fight between Mayweather and Tyson was announced for early 2026, though there have not been many updates since. Still, ‘The Notorious’ sounded confident that it is on track.

McGregor, who hosted a chat at his pub The Black Forge Inn while pouring pints for patrons, had just spent time with Tyson over dinner. And speaking exclusively to Bloody Elbow, he said the former heavyweight champion appeared even more youthful than when they last met.

“I’m excited for it. Because you know what? Mike looks amazing. It’s been seven years since he was last here [in Dublin], he was here in 2018 and I met him back then.

“That was seven years ago and he looks even seven years younger than then, you get me? It’s Mike Tyson, man. I’ll tell you what, he won’t lose. I hope it goes ahead, he seems confident it’s going ahead, he’s well up for it,” the Irishman said.

McGregor also has history with Mayweather. Their 2017 crossover boxing match became one of the sport’s biggest-ever events, where ‘The Notorious’ impressed early but was eventually stopped in the tenth round.
