While Cooper Flagg is projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, he understands very well that there’s still plenty of room for growth in his game.
Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 37 games in his lone season with the Duke Blue Devils. During their NCAA Tournament run, he put up 21.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 blocks per game.
Now, as Flagg prepares to take the next step in his career and make it to the NBA, he got candid about the one skill he wishes he had.
During the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, several draft prospects were asked what attribute from a current player's game they would like to take if given the chance.
Flagg, for his part, was quick to respond, saying he would want Steph Curry's shooting ability.
Curry is considered to be the greatest shooter in NBA history, being the all-time leader in 3-pointers made and the only player to have made over 4,000 triples.
To be fair to Cooper Flagg, there were legitimate concerns about his 3-point shooting before he joined Duke, so it's hard to blame him for dreaming of having Steph Curry's generational ability.
However, Flagg did shoot 38.5 percent from distance as a freshman, recording 1.4 makes out of 3.6 attempts per game.
It remains to be seen if he will be able to sustain his high-level 3-point shooting once he makes it to the pros, though. That will certainly be a huge factor in his development as a player and the kind of impact he can make on an NBA team.
The Dallas Mavericks got the No. 1 pick in the lottery and are expected to take Flagg with the selection in the 2025 draft.
