Dallas Cowboys edge rusher Micah Parsons is still without his new contract, as this saga now drags dangerously close to the beginning of the regular season.
But one player who is perhaps more equipped than most to talk on such a contract is Dak Prescott, who himself didn't sign his long-term deal until the day of Week 1 last year.
However, the difference is Dak still practiced ... Micah hasn't.
And we only have four practices left for Parsons to get himself as close to "football shape" as he can, because as it stands right now, Micah won't be on the field for 60 snaps. Maybe not even 30, and that's a problem.
But the bigger problem is Micah not being on the field at all; however, Prescott thinks No. 11 will be suiting up at Lincoln Financial Field.
"Yeah, I've got confidence, I've told y'all that," Prescott said. "I'm just going off of experience, honestly, no different than mine. So, I've got confidence in that. Just hoping, which I know he is. He's ready to play."
Given that this Parsons contract saga has dragged on for far too long in our mind, the fact that at every media opportunity, it is brought up, players and the coaching staff can get tired of it.
So surely it has to be some sort of a distraction, right?
"I wouldn't say so," Dak added. “There's been a case of something similar to this the last three years, if not four. I think people can take it however they want. I think it's kind of part of the way guys think and see things around here. When you're here in this organization, this is just how you see things are done, whether they're right, wrong, or whoever has their view about them."
So, Week 1 is fast approaching, and Dak has confidence in Micah taking the field, while stating his contract situation isn't a distraction.
Is that true? There will no doubt be some who struggle to believe it.
Either way, Week 1 is nearly upon us, and the main storyline is Micah and his contract. Make of that what you will.
