Cowboys' 'Head-Hunting' Traeshon Holden Makes Major Bid for Roster Spot

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer stated that this week's final padded practice on Wednesday night, and then the Atlanta Falcons preseason game, would "be huge" for players looking to make the roster.

With so many position battles taking place, most notably at receiver and running back, there isn't a shortage of storylines and players to watch, and it appears that one undrafted rookie free agent is taking Schottenheimer's words to heart.

And that is receiver Traeshon Holden.

Having sparkled in the preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams, with two catches for 42 yards, Holden, after impressing in training camp, continued his form. But he was barely sighted in the second preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Which brings us to padded practice at The Ford Center on Wednesday night, and Holden, well, he made a statement.

Constantly making plays, and per Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Holden had four receptions and a touchdown, which was a jump ball over corner Michael Ojumudia.

So yeah, Traeshon is coming for heads, alright.

Granted, doing it in practice is one thing, but he must show something against the Falcons to ram home the advantage he got after his stellar practice.

With the receiver depth chart still jumbled after CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and KaVontae Turpin, there is a chance for someone to take a roster spot, and Holden - who once he signed with Dallas proclaimed boldly that he was "coming for heads'' - is doing his best to make it his.

Such was his performance at The Ford Center, on social media, many fans are screaming for Holden to make the final 53-man roster.

Well, there is one preseason game to go, and if Holden makes plays at AT&T Stadium on Friday night, well, then Schottenheimer's choice might be made for him.
