Cowboys' Jaydon Blue Announces Change To Longhorns Number: 'Back In 23'

Dallas Cowboys running back Jaydon Blue, as expected, is part of the 53-man roster under Brian Schottenheimer, and the former Texas Longhorn also got another piece of good news as several of his teammates were shown the door.

Having worn No. 34 all throughout preseason, some thought that would be Blue's number in his rookie season; however, the football gods have shone down on him, with the speedster now set to wear No. 23.

Jaydon posted on X: "Back in 23"

Previously worn by fellow running back Rico Dowdle, Blue now takes on the same number he wore with Texas during his college days, which is a nice touch, we think.

So, it was a good day all-around for Blue, who ended his first preseason with a decent outing against the Atlanta Falcons having overcome a foot/ankle injury that saw him miss the first two games.

Having sparkled in preseason to the point where some think Blue is set to be a starter under Schottenheimer, it has been quite the offseason for the fifth-round pick, as he looks to be Javonte Williams' backup.

The running back room has undergone quite the makeover this offseason, with Williams, Blue, Phil Mafah, and Miles Sanders the new faces, while Hunter Luepke was the only previous back to survive roster cuts, with Deuce Vaughn and Malik Davis shown the door.

Blue looms as the wildcard for Schottenheimer's offense, with his blistering speed and receiving ability set to be utilized often in his rookie season, and he'll be doing it with his college number on his back.
