Cowboys Schedule Visit With Texas Speed Demon

With the NFL Draft just a couple of weeks away, teams are conducting their 30 Visits, and for the Dallas Cowboys, that means getting down to the nitty gritty of player evaluations.

Part of that is hosting a player at The Star, and according to multiple reports, University of Texas flyer Matthew Golden is the latest name to join that list, with the receiver set to take his visit on Thursday.

Given the Cowboys' need for receiver help for CeeDee Lamb, taking a receiver at No. 12 seems to be the avenue Dallas will go down. Yes, there is a need for a running back, but given the depth of the class, the Cowboys can take one in the later rounds.

As for Golden, his name has been popping up a lot lately, and it appears the Cowboys want to get to know the Texas speedster a little more ahead of the draft.

Boasting a blistering 4.29 40-yard dash - best among receivers at the Scouting Combine and the second-fastest of all the class at any position in Indy - Golden would be Dak Prescott's downfield weapon and would take some of the attention off of Lamb, something No. 88 would no doubt appreciate.

Golden developed a knack for turning up in big games along with having quality leadership skills, the Cowboys and the Texas native seem to be a good fit.

Yes, Tetairoa McMillan for most is the clear choice at No. 12, but there is merit to Tet not being available when Dallas picks, which brings Golden into view. The Cowboys are desperate for receiver help, and in truth, it doesn't matter whether it is McMillan or Golden; a new weapon has to come in.

And with Golden having a visit with the Cowboys, maybe there is more than just noise of Matthew being in Dallas next season.
