According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Dallas Mavericks have signed Auburn guard Miles Kelly to a two-way contract. Kelly did not hear his name called during the 2025 NBA Draft and instantly became one of the top available players. He lands in Dallas to get his NBA career started.
“Auburn’s Miles Kelly has agreed to a two-way NBA deal with the Dallas Mavericks, sources tell ESPN,” Charania said via X.
Kelly spent just one season on The Plains, helping Auburn reach the Final Four. His career started in the ACC with Georgia Tech before entering the NCAA transfer portal. Playing under head coach Bruce Pearl helped Kelly take his game to the next level, becoming one of the top shooters in college basketball.
The performance everyone will remember is Kelly going off for 30 points inside Rupp Arena against Kentucky. He made nine of 14 three-pointers, going an overall 10-17. A fantastic game for Kelly and Auburn as well, getting a massive win on the road.
In 38 games, Kelly averaged 11.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. But as mentioned, the shooting stats are likely why the Mavericks are interested. Kelly finished making 40.6% of shots from the field, 37.8% of his three-point attempts, and was almost automatic from the free throw line at 90.9%.
Those are the type of numbers that will translate well to the next level, no matter where Kelly is playing. Whether it’s in the NBA with Dallas or getting his feet wet in the G-League. A great spot for Kelly as his journey past the college game begins.
The Philadelphia 76ers have selected former Auburn forward Johni Broome with the No. 35 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Broome transferred to Auburn ahead of the 2022-23 season after spending two years at Morehead State.
Broome was one of the best players in the country this past season, averaging 18.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.1 blocks per game. The 6-foot-10 standout shot 51.0% from the field and 27.8% from beyond the arc.
Fueled by Broome’s fantastic play, Auburn reached the Final Four this past season for just the second time in program history. For his efforts in the 2024-25 campaign, Broome was named the SEC Player of the Year and a Consensus All-American.
