The Dallas Stars joined the citywide reaction to the Dallas Cowboys’ blockbuster trade of Micah Parsons, posting a lighthearted reminder to their fan base that their own franchise star is not going anywhere.

Dallas Stars Reassure Fans After Cowboys Move

Shortly after the Cowboys dealt Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for Kenny Clark and two future first-round picks, the Stars posted on X:

“Don’t worry y’all, Mikko Rantanen is a Dallas Star,” the franchise wrote.

The post quickly drew attention across Dallas sports circles and fans, even more after a year full of disappointing moves made by the other two major-league franchises settled in the Texas town, the NFL's Cowboys and the NBA's Mavericks.

The post allowed Dallas fans to express their never-ending frustration, this time over losing Parsons after earlier this year, NBA superstar Luka Doncic, the clear-cut franchise player of the Mavs, was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Mikko Rantanen’s Arrival and Impact in Dallas

Unlike the Cowboys and Mavericks, the Stars have built around their marquee acquisition instead of trading him, albeit they have had Rantanen for a much shorter time.

Rantanen joined Dallas at last season’s trade deadline after a short stint in Carolina, signing an eight-year, $96 million contract with a full no-movement clause.

The forward became an instant postseason hero, scoring nine goals and 22 points in 18 games, including a Game 7 hat trick to eliminate the Colorado Avalanche in the first round before Dallas fell to the runner-up Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference finals.

The Finnish winger has established himself as one of the NHL's premier scorers, with five straight 30-goal campaigns and a career-best 55 goals in 2022–23, leading to his second All-Star appearance while still with the Avs.
