Dana White Reveals Why Ryan Garcia ‘Did Not Cheat’
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

There is no denying that ‘KingRy’ Ryan Garcia (24-1-1, 20 KOs) has had a rough couple of months. From his once sensational victory against Devin Haney (31-0-1, 15 KOs) being overturned to receiving a 1-year suspension after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs, Garcia can’t seem to catch a break. However, it looks like he’s found an unlikely source of support, and it’s none other than UFC president Dana White. In fact, White even revealed why he believes that Garcia did not cheat.

White was recently talking at the UFC 303 post-fight press conference. In conversation, he shared his thoughts on Garcia’s suspension. “First of all, none of that is any of my business,” White said. Moreover, he mentioned that it did not concern him because it was not his card.

“You know I hate talking about drug testing. But with all of our knowledge that we have in the years that we’ve been drug testing; we believe the people who handle the drug testing that he had taken a tainted supplement,” he added. “He did not cheat. If he had the right people around him and had the right, you know, that wouldn’t happen.”

White further stated that he was confident that Garcia had used a tainted supplement. However, he made it clear that he “got no skin in this game” and did not care about the suspension. “It’s none of my business and not my place to even talk about it,” he said.

“Get Some Type of Therapy”

Meanwhile, many members of the boxing community have pointed out the fact that Garcia’s drinking habits after the suspension have catapulted to a problematic degree. The drinking problem has become evident in the cantankerous overtones of his demeanor.

In a recent interview, his father, Henry Garcia, urged him to undergo therapy to overcome his addiction.

“I haven’t spoken to Ryan in a long time. He speaks to his mother more than me. But it’s okay, he’ll call me when he wants to. I would love for him to get some type of therapy when it comes to his drinking,” he said. “I’m being real. He says he can control it. I hope he can. But if he doesn’t, get that therapy so he can stop.”
