On Monday, Ohio State made the decision to bar Barstool Sports and Dave Portnoy from attending the school's season opener against Texas on Saturday, Aug. 3.
And shortly after, Portnoy responded to the Buckeye's decision.
“I wasn’t going to say anything… I’m trying to be a good partner, we’re just starting this thing with Fox,” Portnoy said in a video (via Front Office Sports). “They banned me from coming into their stadium. They banned our [Barstool’s] show from coming to campus. I feel bad because Fox is in the middle of it.”
Earlier this summer, Fox Sports announced a collaboration with Barstool, where Portnoy is set to become a regular presence on Fox Sports’ “Big Noon Kickoff” college football gameday shows on Saturdays. Other Barstool personalities are expected to be featured as well. But, he will not be present for the biggest game of Week 1.
On his radio show on Monday, former Ohio State linebacker Bobby Carpenter said that many people from the school are “not all that happy about [Portnoy] being hired” at Fox. His co-host, Austin Ward, added that Portnoy is “not welcome inside the Horseshoe,” Front Office Sports wrote.
Much of this is because Portnoy is a Michigan grad, which just so happens to be Ohio State's biggest rival. Portnoy has also been very public in his support for the Wolverines, going as far as to troll Ohio State and their head coach, Ryan Day.
