Making the leap from college football to the NFL is no easy task, but for some players, having a family legacy in the sport offers a unique edge. Shedeur Sanders is one of those rare cases, following in the footsteps of his Hall of Fame father, Deion Sanders.
While that connection comes with plenty of guidance and support, it also brings its own set of expectations. Recently, Shedeur Sanders made a bold decision that not only turned heads but also earned him a brand-new nickname from his brother, Deion Sanders, Jr.
Deion Sanders Jr. took to Instagram to share a post of his brother with a caption that said, “Young King.”
Shedeur Sanders is getting praised for not allowing his father to visit him during practice.
Deion Sanders has his hands full getting Colorado ready for the upcoming college football season, but even if he wanted to drop by Browns camp to watch his son Shedeur, that visit isn’t happening anytime soon.
Shedeur Sanders made it clear he doesn’t want his dad showing up just yet. He’s still a late-round rookie fighting to climb the depth chart, stuck behind Joe Flacco and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel. With limited reps to work with, he wants to focus fully on proving himself before bringing his dad into the mix.
He admitted that if father showed up now, it would turn into a media circus and shift the focus away from his grind. Shedeur Sanders wants his dad to see him once he’s earned his spot, not while he’s just getting a handful of snaps and learning the ropes. For now, it’s all about staying locked in and avoiding distractions.
Social media lit up Saturday when Shedeur Sanders didn’t take a single rep in team drills at Browns camp. It was later revealed he was dealing with some shoulder soreness, leading the team to ease up on his workload.
Shedeur Sanders cleared the air Monday, saying he’s now back to 100 percent and explained it was simply his body adjusting to the stop-and-go rhythm of camp. He admitted missing reps weighed on his mind but said he’d rather be fully ready to give his best. With joint practices and a preseason game ahead, he is feeling good and ready to roll.
