Dennis Schroder Gives A Message To His Haters: "Progress Is A Slow Process!"

27-year-old guard Dennis Schroder recently reached an agreement on a one-year, $5.9 million contract with the Boston Celtics.

Whether he starts or comes off the bench for Boston, Schroder will have the chance to sign something a little bigger in 2022.

In the meantime, though, he will only continue to get blasted by the fans.

With expectations of getting an offer nearing $100 million, Schroder famously turned down an $84 million contract by the Lakers last year, essentially losing out on tens of millions of dollars.

All over social media, fans have been slandering Schroder at every turn, citing overconfidence as the catalyst for his big mistake.

But, on Instagram, Schroder fired back at the haters and their narrative with a few simple words.

“Progress is a slow process! Can’t focus on the baggage! See what’s about to happen next!”

His wife was actually the first one to clap back at the critics. Here's her post on the subject:

"I'm so proud of my husband that he made this decision to stay true to himself and to fight for his goals and his vision. I know not everyone understand this... They would choose money before anything else... But let me tell you: Show some love, be patient and watch what happens next."

While Schroder might have been overly ambitious with his dream of inking a $100 million deal, but he's certainly worth more than the 5.9 mill he's getting paid by Boston.

The 8-year veteran has career averages of 14.3 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game on 43.6% shooting and he seems more motivated than ever before to play the best ball of his career.

So, it's safe to say we can expect a bit of a "revenge tour" from Schroder, who will be playing with an enormous chip on his shoulder during the upcoming season.

How far it will take the Celtics is another conversation entirely. With plenty of young talent and a brilliant front0office to back them up, the future certainly looks bright for the franchise.

Unfortunately, they might be just a stop along Schroder's quest to prove everyone wrong.
