The Heavy Metal Event has been in Destiny 2 since Friday. It is the first PvP-based Event in quite some time, but it has a twist. Instead of Guardians fighting each other with weapons and abilities, they get to commandeer Fallen Brigs and Drake Tanks in a 3v3 format. The Event sees the addition of the Event Page (a mainstay for future events) alongside a pass, redeemable rewards, and a seal. The Event concludes on May 16th.
The Event pits three players on each team against each other. At the start of the game, players get randomly assigned to the Brig or Tank team. Players must destroy the enemy vehicles and pick up their dropped tokens. Picking up a token awards your team an extra point, restores some health, and gives you an additional secondary fire. The best performer will glow, giving them a better dodge, but killing them gives you more points for picking up their token. Players can also deny tokens from the enemy team. The first team to fifty points wins.
Control Scheme
Players must visit Lord Shaxx in the tower to begin the Heavy Metal Event quest. The quest will guide players on how to progress in the Event. There are eight steps players must complete.
By completing daily and weekly challenges, players earn Event Tokens. Players can purchase items from the Rewards Shop with Event Tokens.
Completing matches and challenges will award players with Event Pass XP. The Event Pass has fifteen rewards for players, ending with the Gryphon, Exotic Sparrow. It is the first-ever Combat Sparrow in Destiny 2.
Players must complete eight triumphs in total to gild the Heavy Metal Title. However, to reach gilding, players must first complete the initial four triumphs:
Completing the first four triumphs will complete the seal, but if players want the ultimate completion of gilding the Seal, they must complete four triumphs.
