The countdown for the release of Destiny Rising is well underway. NetEase’s version of Destiny 2 is one of the most eagerly anticipated mobile game releases of 2025. The pre-registrations for the game are above 10 million just two days before the official release. Players can start pre-download on August 27th. They can enter the game the following day, on August 28th.

Destiny Rising Pre-Download and Official Release Times

The pre-download for players will open at 6:00 AM PT (15:00 CEST) on the IOS App Store and Google Play Store. We recommend that players complete the pre-download. Doing so will allow you to enter the game when it launches in your region.

The official release for Destiny Rising is staggered based on region. NetEase has chosen to do this to prevent server overload. The region release is as follows:

  • Asia Pacific Server (SGT)- August 28th at 9:00 AM
  • Europe Server (CEST)- August 28th at 9:00 AM
  • Latin America Server (BRT)- August 28th at 9:00 AM
  • North America Server (PDT)- August 28th at 9:00 AM

What is Destiny Rising?

Destiny Rising is a gacha mobile game created by NetEase under the licensing of Bungie. It represents the first game in the franchise not made by Bungie, and its storyline will not connect with Destiny 2.

Similar to Genshin Impact, players have the chance to roll for the characters they want. RNG is involved in your pulls, so you are not guaranteed to get the character you are looking for. Some of the known characters are:

  • Gwynn The Reaper
  • Jolder The Iron Champion
  • Tan-2 The Novice

The game will feature exotic weapons and some from Destiny 2, like Huckleberry and Izanagi’s Burden. Players can play fun game modes like Sparrow Racing and Fishing, two features that players have requested in Destiny 2. You can design your living space with your clan members.

Destiny Rising Expectations

Destiny Rising will bring features from Destiny 2 and add elements that players have requested, like Sparrow Racing. The game is unlikely to replace Destiny 2, given the differences between the two. What is more hopeful is that Destiny Rising brings more players to Destiny 2 to revive a game that is in limbo.
