Dolphins meeting with Miami Hurricanes superstar on Tuesday, but it's not who many fans might think

The Miami Dolphins have no shortage of options to begin a major overhaul of the franchise next month in the NFL Draft. With seven picks in the first three rounds, the Fins have a chance at finding some young impact players.

As it would be, a big pool of talent just so happens to exist in their own backyard down in Coral Gables. That's where the University of Miami held its Pro Day on Monday, and Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley were in attendance.

There's plenty for that duo to keep an eye on there, particularly with mammoth offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa, who's been mocked by some draft pundits to the Dolphins in recent weeks. From a fit and talent perspective, he'd be a home run pick.

But he's not the only elite talent at the U that the Dolphins are doing their homework on. Per Miami Herald reporter Jordan McPherson, EDGE Rueben Bain, Jr. said he's visiting the Dolphins on Tuesday.

From a fit perspective, it's on the nose for the Dolphins. It's no secret that the Dolphins desperately need some help, both with a starting spot across from Chop Robinson and depth at the position.

And despite the oft repeated concern about his sub-31-inch arm length, Bain was a dominant force on the field last season, including in the College Football Playoff against the best competition. He had a total of 16 pressures and four sacks against arguably the two best offensive lines Miami faced all season in Texas A&M and Ohio State.

It remains to be seen if Bain would even be in play at No. 11. The New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, and Cincinnati Bengals at picks No. 8-10, respectively, all have significant pass rushing needs. But if Bain falls into the Dolphins' laps, and particularly if Mauigoa is off the board, then perhaps the Dolphins would be in position to keep one of the area's best defensive players in many years from leaving town.
