Friday night the Duquesne Athletics community came together to celebrate a 2025 Merle E. Gilliand Hall of Fame class which was well versed, with the five former student-athletes, two championship teams and a builder comprising five different sports.

It was an affair which occurred at Duquesne’s Power Center ballroom and was crowded with honorees, family and athletics supporters.

Following some heavy appetizers and a social hour, Duquesne’s Vice President of Athletics Dave Harper started the ceremony with some words before giving the stage to President Ken Gormley.

Gormley offered some remarks allowing honorees and guests to understand some of the significant changes to the university since some were last on campus.

As was the format in 2024, each honoree was introduced by a speaker before coming up on stage, given a chance to make a speech, receive their award and be warmly embraced by the crowd.

Each recipient also had the opportunity to be recognized the next day at the Duquesne Men’s Basketball contest against Massachusetts.
