The anticipation of the return of college football to the EA Sports video game family continues to mount, as the initial teaser trailer released Thursday showcased some of the country's top programs to go along with the newly-minted NIL era.

Although there is no date for the release of the game being revealed, as it will be accessible across PS5 and Xbox, it appears that according to OutKick's David Hookstead, summer is the likely timeframe.

"I spoke with a PlayStation rep on Tuesday to get some clarification on what to expect with the game and what kind of console to get (I'm literally buying a PS5 just for this game), and he offered up unsolicited that the game is scheduled to hit shelves in July - information EA Sports and those tied with the game have gone out of their way to keep hidden." he said.

Hookstead said the same Playstation representative also revealed what month the game should expect to appear in retailers across the country: July 2024.

"College Football 25" is the first edition of the popular sports franchise in a decade and will likely be modes revolving around dynasties, the Heisman Trophy, careers, and more.

The closest thing to the "NCAA Football" series has been Madden's reenactment of previous national championship endings, but nothing quite like the look and feel of the original series.

There is still so much to look out for as the summer months draw closer, but a college football video game return drought is nearly over.
