Preseason is in the rearview mirror for the Philadelphia Eagles, and now it is time to focus on roster cutdowns and the regular season.

The next few days will be crucial for Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, head coach Nick Sirianni, and the rest of the staff as they finalize their 53-man roster. There will be some tough decisions, as Philly had plenty of standouts in the preseason who will make it tough for the team to let go.

One player in particular might have caught their attention as neither a cut candidate nor a 53-man roster candidate. With Roseman's ability to get a trade deal done, he might have an option to trade someone on the roster.

Kelee Ringo's time on the Eagles is starting to come to an end

At some point, the Eagles are going to have to call it quits on Ringo and admit that he isn't going to work out. Being over six-foot tall is rare for a cornerback as he's one of the tallest in the NFL. Something is missing with his play, though.

After two years on the bench and developing, many saw Ringo as ready to break out in 2025 as a starter. The departures of Darius Slay, Avonte Maddox, and James Bradberry forced the Eagles to finally go through with their plan on letting Ringo play for the starting job. Adoree' Jackson' arrival complicated thigs for Ringo, but it gave him a legitimate contender for the job to push him.

Training camp started and progress was slower than a turtle competing in a race. Jackson and Ringo weren't separating themselves by much as both struggled with consistency. The only difference between the two was Jackson was showing his solid open field tackling and Ringo was struggling everything in his game in preseason.

That resulted in last week Ringo getting demoted to second and third team reps while Jackson was not splitting reps with Cooper DeJean and Mac McWilliams. All indications are that Jackson will be the main CB2 starter on the Eagles.

Ringo had officially started his downfall from needing more development to not suiting up against the New York Jets on Friday. A game that could have been good for him to build some confidence entering the regular season.

Roseman would be silly not to consider at least sending Ringo elsewhere for a draft pick. It would most likely be a late-round draft pick, with maybe a fifth at the highest. Anything would do to move on from Ringo.

The Eagles have Jackson, Jakorian Bennett, Eli Ricks, and McWilliams, who could all compete for the starting job in the near future. Philly has the depth, and Ringo's inconsistent play is enough to believe it's time to move on from him.

It's a shame, as the organization and the fan base had high expectations for Ringo going into the season. Oh, how much things have changed from late July to now.
