Early Games Will Set the Tone for the Dolphins’ Season
The Miami Dolphins begin their 2025 campaign on September 7th at Lucas Oil Stadium against the Indianapolis Colts.
The next three games are against divisional opponents.
The Dolphins face the New England Patriots and New York Jets at home with a road game versus the Buffalo Bills in the third game of the season.
So, the so-called first quarter of the season sets a major tone for the remainder of the year.
If the Dolphins beat the Colts in the season opener, not an easy task, it will give the team a much-needed boost to start the year.
The best-case scenario is to get through these first four games with a 3-1 record.
Victories against the Colts, Patriots, and Jets, with one loss to the Bills, give us a strong start from which to build upon.
The worst-case scenario is any record short of 3-1.
It’s that simple.
The outcome may depend on a field goal, and with the recent news and early absence of Jason Sanders, this will be tough.
If the Dolphins do not get off to a fast start, then the remaining thirteen games may be challenging to watch.
That is why the first four games of the 2025 season are so critical for the Dolphins to have any hope of making the playoffs.
With such a young team, a 2025 playoff appearance is unlikely, but the core of young players we have recently seen glimpses of during the pre-season gives the Miami Dolphins a bright future.
I am looking forward to the Dolphins starting strong and ending the first four games at 3-1.
At 3-1, we are still in the race and hopefully remain in contention come winter.
And we fans have something to look forward to this Fall.
If we go 1-3?
A complete overhaul.
Starting with early picks in the 2026 draft.
The first scenario, a 3-1 start, is preferable.
