Idaho Steelheads defenseman Jason Horvath is heading overseas to France to join Strasbourg (France2) after spending parts of the last three seasons in the ECHL. He previously played overseas in Romania during the 2023-24 season, playing in 26 games with Gyergyói HK. In 26 games last season with the Idaho Steelheads and Worcester Railers, he had five assists, all coming with the Steelheads. He is the second player from Idaho to take the overseas route since the 2025-26 season ended, joining goaltender Beni Halasz.

The Russel, Ontario, native has spent parts of five seasons playing in the ECHL with five different teams. Over the course of his ECHL career, he’s put up two goals and 40 assists for 42 points in 140 games. Horvath has also played in three games in the LNAH with the Therford Mines Assurancia. Prior to going pro, Horvath spent four seasons in the QMJHL, splitting his time between the Shawinigan Cataractes and Halifax Mooseheads. In 104 games with Shawinigan, he had three goals and 25 assists for 28 points and added one assist in three playoff games. During his time with the Mooseheads, he had seven goals and 29 assists for 36 points in 105 games. In his final season in the QMJHL, he wore an “A” for the Mooseheads.
