The Utah Grizzlies have announced that they have signed 6’2″ forward Tyler Gratton for the 2025-26 season.

Junior and Collegiate Career

Tyler Gratton started his junior career playing five games with the US U17 NTDP Team in the 2015-16 season. He then went to the USHL, where he played for the USNTDP Juniors Team, Chicago Steel, Fargo Force, and Central Illinois Flying Aces. Gratton played in 165 USHL games, where he had 31 goals and 36 assists for 67 points with 175 penalty minutes and a -18. In the 2016-17 season, Gratton was named to the USHL All-Rookie Second Team and won the Clark Cup with the Chicago Steel, where he scored the overtime championship-winning goal. He also served as one of the Steel’s alternate captains in the 2017-18 season.

The Pottstown, Pennsylvania native then started his collegiate career at Penn State, spending his first four seasons with the Nittany Lions and serving as an alternate captain in his fourth season. Through 123 games, Gratton had 20 goals and 14 assists for 34 points with 74 penalty minutes and a -14. Gratton and the Nittany Lions were the B1G Regular Season Champions in his freshman season.

Gratton decided to enter the transfer portal for his final season, finding a spot at Arizona State University, where he captained the team. In 36 games with the Sun Devils, Gratton had 12 goals and six assists for 18 points with 18 penalty minutes and a -7.

Professional Career

After completing his collegiate career, Gratton signed with the ECHL’s Reading Royals to finish his 2023-24 season and then re-signed with the Royals in the 2024-25 season. Through 78 ECHL games played, Gratton has 21 goals and 14 assists for 35 points with 30 penalty minutes and a -15.

Gratton really started to find his offensive game last season, leading the Reading Royals in goals with 20. As Gratton continues to find offensive success, his speed and ability to get to the front of the net will be huge helping hands.
