Notre Dame has made another big move on the recruiting trail by landing elite cornerback Khary Adams, who committed to the Fighting Irish. The Towson (Md.) Loyola Blakefield standout picked Notre Dame over Oregon, Penn State, Michigan and South Carolina.

Notre Dame has been in a battle to land Adams for a long time, but the Irish made a surge over the last couple of months. Oregon and Penn State were considered the leaders for some time, but secondary coach Mike Mickens built a strong relationship with Adams over time. The Irish sealed the deal with the official visit he took this past weekend.

Notre Dame has built into a secondary powerhouse under Mickens, who has developed cornerbacks at an elite level during his tenure in South Bend. Landing Adams in a class that already has Florida cornerback Ayden Pouncey and Tennessee cover man Chaston Smith gives the Irish another special cornerback recruiting haul that helps ensure that Notre Dame's elite corner play continues.

At 6-2 and 180 pounds, Adams is yet another long and athletic cornerback to commit to play for Mickens. He has the length Mickens desires, but Adams also has high level speed and playmaking ability. Notre Dame has shown a strong interest in football players that play on both sides of the ball, and Adams is an impact player at both cornerback and wide receiver for the Dons.

As a junior, Adams racked up 43 tackles, picked off four passes, broke up 12 more throws and registered three tackles for loss as a cornerback. On offense, Adams caught 31 passes for 703 yards (22.7 YPC) and six touchdowns.

The Loyola Blakefield star grades out as a Top 100 player on the Irish Breakdown board and he also earned a 5.0-star upside grade. He is ranked as the No. 30 overall player in the country and the No. 3 cornerback by On3. Adams is also ranked No. 36 overall and the No. 3 cornerback by 247Sports.

Adams earned offers from Notre Dame, Clemson, LSU, Oregon, Florida State, Michigan, Penn State, USC, Tennessee, Miami (Fla.), Oklahoma, Auburn, South Carolina, Missouri, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, West Virginia, NC State, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Virginia, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Indiana, Minnesota, Arizona, Maryland and Rutgers.

Adams is the 18th player to commit to Notre Dame. He joins Florida quarterback Noah Grubbs, Texas running backs Javian Osborne, Georgia running back Jonaz Walton, Florida wide receiver Dylan Faison, Georgia wide receiver Bubba Frazier, Pennsylvania offensive linemen Tyler Merrill and Grayson McKeogh, Michigan offensive linemen Ben Nichols, Gregory Patrick and Sullivan Garvin, North Carolina ends Ebenezer Ewetade and Rodney Dunham, Texas defensive tackle Tiki Hola, North Carolina linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., Ohio linebacker Jakobe Clapper, Pouncey and Smith.
