ESPN analyst unveils his pick if Alabama and Texas played on neutral field
Ricardo B. Brazziell/American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK

Alabama has one blemish on its college football schedule, but it has started a debate.

The Crimson Tide suffered a 10-point loss to Texas at home. Alabama is not the same team it was then; however, the College Football Playoff Committee favors Texas over the Tide because of the head-to-head. The Longhorns do not have the resume of Alabama, but the Committee does not see it that way. Alabama needs Texas to lose one of its three remaining matchups for a chance to get into the playoff, but an ESPN analyst feels this version of the Tide would perform better against Texas.

Peter Burns of SEC Network says if Alabama and Texas met on a neutral field, he has the Tide as a 10-point favorite.

If both teams fail to make the playoff, a projection has them facing each other in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

A rematch between the Tide and Texas would be a great consolation prize if Alabama does not get into the CFP.

We will see what happens, but Burns offered an interesting perspective.
