The top management of the Exeter Chiefs has placed Rob Hunter and Ali Hepher on compulsory leave in line with their usual practice if they do not perform well in any match following the team's loss with a 79-17 score to Gloucester.
The report of such a humiliating and voracious loss has sparked a lot of discussions regarding the future of the Chiefs due to their poor defensive display, in which they conceded 13 tries. The team that has managed three league games this season came under considerable pressure.
CEO Tony Rowe was visibly upset after the match. He was seen shouting at players as they processed the defeat. Rowe said in a press statement that "no final decision regarding the club's coaching structure" had been made. He emphasized that the review must be completed before further comments can be made.
The game's aftermath worsened; Rowe became so angry that she had to talk sharply to the players, staring at their tremendous loss. Coaches, especially the director of rugby, Rob Baxter, stood behind Rowe's actions, saying that after such a performance, Rowe was "entitled to fire everybody."
Exeter has affirmed that the coaches will stay barred as the club investigates the match and the whole season. "It is not right to go further regarding the matter since all internal processes are yet to be followed," said Rowe in the official club announcement on their website. A thorough review of the situation will enable the club to choose better coaches and plan for the next action.
