F1’s New Disney Deal Has Everyone Doing a Double Take

Formula 1’s latest move has left the motorsport world blinking twice. In a bold crossover few saw coming, F1 and Disney have announced a global collaboration that will officially bring Mickey Mouse and his iconic crew into the fast lane starting in 2026.

The partnership promises immersive fan experiences, exclusive content, and themed merchandise featuring Mickey & Friends, blending one of the world’s fastest-growing sports with one of the most beloved names in global entertainment.

It’s a move clearly aimed at the next generation of fans, as F1 continues to expand its youth appeal. Data shows over 4 million children between the ages of 8 and 12 follow the sport across Europe and the U.S., with more than half of its TikTok audience under 2025.

“This collaboration is set to be a brilliant one,” said F1 Chief Commercial Officer Emily Prazer. “We’re stepping outside the world of sport and into a broader consumer market.”

While Disney Consumer Products President Tasia Filippatos celebrated the creative possibilities, not everyone in the F1 community was ready to wave a checkered flag.

Fan reactions online ranged from amused to outright hostile. “No, Mickey, no no Mickey,” one user posted. Another joked, “Alpine got a new driver?” while some wondered, “Who’s gonna drive it?” More blunt criticism came from purists: “Thanks for ruining the sport.”

Formula 1 and Disney have yet to reveal specific details about how the Mickey & Friends will appear within the sport, but teased that fans can follow the adventure via social media.

The collaboration may not put Mickey behind the wheel of a real F1 car, but the partnership is real—and it’s racing toward 2026 whether fans are ready or not.
